Mixing is the step following the "Rec" session of all instruments and voices. The "Mix" is used to combine all the different sound sources to create a coherent song. During this stage, the objective is to find the ideal balance between each audio signal in terms of frequency, height, width and depth.

Even though you have already edited your audio files (such as cleaning tracks, timing of clips on the grid, etc.) there are still improvements that can be made depending on various situations as well as your needs.

Listening to a flat song performed by yourself allows identifying and understanding of your expectations regarding the desired result.

Manee is a sound engineer who has developed, in recent years, a hybrid system that allows combining digital and analogue processing. With his system, the degree in which digital or analogue processing is used depends on the work to be done on the song, as well as the relevance of the tool used for the song. The goal is to use both the software and hardware at their best.

When mixing is completed:

You will be provided with two files with the name of your projects. Such files are as follow:

  • A .wav file in the native format of your session (example: 32bit float 88200hz) containing a headroom margin. This file is intended for mastering.
  • A .wav file in 16bit 44100Hz without headroom, with a high level of volume. This file is for listening purposes only in order to get an initial understanding of the work to be done, but is not used for mastering.

Prior to starting the mixing stage, a number of essential instructions regarding your tracks are to be followed from the "Preparation" page of this website.
